The Planning Commission met for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The only agenda item was a request to re-submit a previously denied rezone request. The property owner is Danny Hall. The current zoning is R-1 (single-family residential). The previously denied zoning request was for R-4 (high-density residential). The proposed zoning for resubmittal is R-3 (medium-density residential).
Developer Joseph Andorful attended the meeting via Zoom. He presented an artist’s rendering of the proposed townhomes, offering two, three, or four bedrooms.
He said he desires to get people in homes. “I would love to help the community with my investment portfolio. Additional housing would attract growth and add additional tax revenue. New homes revitalize a community. If I can’t live in it, I don’t build it.”
He asked the commission to reconsider the zoning request. He did not have a proposed layout for the 3.91 acres behind Burger King.
Access to the new subdivision was discussed and decided to be Spruce and Floyd.
Chairman Pat Brown said he wished there was a site development plan. Jim Harp motioned to deny the request, which was carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 1:24 p.m.
