After School Frequently Asked Questions

• What is After School?
  • After School is a fun and engaging program that is provided by Harrison Parks & Rec. We provide structured after school care for children grades Kindergarten through 9^th. 
• ​What are the days and hours for After School?
  • The After School program runs Monday-Friday 3:15 Pm until 5:30 PM. We follow the Harrison School District schedule, for school closures, etc. 
• ​How does my child get to the After School Program?
  • Your child will ride the bus from school to the Youth Center. A counselor will be at the door each day to greet the children and make sure they get off the bus safely. To arrange for the transportation to the Youth Center you will need to coordinate through the Bus Garage to find out the bus number, if there are any transfers, etc. You will also need to communicate with the school that your child will be riding the bus to the Youth Center. If your child will only be coming on certain days you will need to let the school know. 
• ​Does my child have to come every day?
  • No, we offer daily and weekly enrollment options. 
• ​How much does After School cost?
  • Daily = $12 and Weekly = $35 
  • Early dismissal days will be an additional $3, making it $15 on early dismissal days. 
  • Payment is due each week. 
• ​Do I pay for the days my child does NOT come?
  • No, you have the option for full time or part-time and you pay only when your child comes. We do not provide refunds, however if you pay and your child does not attend you will be given a credit that will be rolled forward to the next week. Credit is good for 6 months. 
• ​Are snacks provided for my child?
  • We provide a variety of snacks for kids to purchase here at the center.  You can purchase a snack card or send money with your child.  (You can also limit or restrict these purchases if you choose.) 
• ​What do the kids do in After School?
  • 3:15-4:00 – Snack and free time (play, homework, etc.)
  • 4:00-5:00 – Small group activities (K-2^nd & 3^rd-4^th & 5th-9^th ) 
  • 5:00-5:30 – Large group game
• Who works with and watches the kids?
  • We have a staff of counselors (older teens and adults) that entertain and watch the kids. All counselors are trained and have passed a thorough background check.  We strive for a ratio of no more than 10 kids to 1 counselor.
