OPERATIONS DIVISION 

The Division Chief of Operations direct the day to day operations of the division, reporting directly to the Fire Chief. The Operation Division is responsible for responding to a wide range of critical emergencies such as structure/grass/vehicle fires, medical, vehicle accidents, and other emergent calls. The division is broke down into three shifts, which are supervised by Battalion Chiefs assigned to each shift. Each shift works 48 hours and are off 96 hours. Every station; Central Station on Industrial Park Road, Station No. 2 on South Spring Street, and Station No. 3 on Airport Road are always staffed. The department is equipped with four engines, a ladder truck, two rescue units, a brush truck, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting truck, ambulance, and rescue boat.

The Harrison Fire Department being progressive, all hazard emergency response service; every firefighter receives specialized training such as swift water rescue, high angle rescue, patient extrication and medical care. Every firefighter within the operations division are Nationally Registered EMT’s; to provide critical medical care to patients until a higher level of care arrives. Our department works closely with our local emergency medical service (EMS) to better serve our community. As of November of 2022 the Operations Division has added an ambulance to the fleet which will respond to medical calls. The Harrison Fire Department is the only paid department in Boone County which is staffed and ready to respond to a call 24 hours a day. The department routinely assist other agencies in Boone County and surrounding counties in emergency response. All of our firefighters are required to have continuous training and education. When firefighters are not responding to calls, firefighters are continuously training in fire suppression and training in rescue techniques of retrieving a patient from confined spaces, multistory buildings or cliffs, patients entrapped in vehicles, or patients entrapped in structure fires. Education leads to knowledgeable and skilled firefighters, and repetition of that knowledge and of those skills leads to a proficient firefighter.

 The department strives to serve the community with the highest level of care possible. With hard work, training, and with the best equipment in the area, we not only help our community with those who experience emergencies but we help by lowering insurance cost (ISO) for residential and business owners.
