COO Phillips Updates Council on projects

The Harrison City Council met on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

COO, City Engineer Wade Phillips said a press release was posted about the Historic District Commission and the volunteers needed.

“The basic function of the Commission will be to promote the public's educational, cultural, economic, and general welfare through the preservation and protection of buildings, sites, places, and districts of historic interest. Initial tasks for the first Commission will include reporting on and creating a local historic district and developing and implementing design guidelines for the conservation of structures within the local historic districts.”

The application can be completed at www.HarrisonAR.gov/HistoricDistrictCommission, or questions can be directed to Phillips at wphillips@harrisonar.gov or by calling 870-741-3434.

Our sewer capacity study is nearly complete, and the model growth area for the next 10-20 years has been identified. “We have some current deficiencies when looking toward the future, but we are working on those issues.

The bids for the ARDOT project at Airport Road, Hester Dr., and Walmart Dr. will be opened on Nov. 6.

The Boone County Conversation District's plan for removing poison hemlock will begin in late winter or early spring. The city will re-seed with pollinator plants. Phillips said they will host some training for the community on spotting the poisonous plant.

“The Camp Jack roof should be complete by next month,” Phillips said.
